Langford, council at impasse over lawsuit; lawyers say case will not end

A day after Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford fired two law firms he said overstepped their authority by suing mortgage companies on the city's behalf, lawyers with those firms said their case will continue with the approval of the City Council.

Police and county officials late Tuesday continued their investigation into the death of a 23-year-old Leeds mother and are trying to determine how she died. Emily Lynn Milling's body was found about 7:30 p.m. Monday in a wooded area off Markeeta Road in Leeds.
